Compared to the Crowther Hot Cake, the New Zealand-born overdrive that's been a cult favourite since the late '70s. The Hot Cake sits somewhere between a smooth, amp-like push and a cutting, harmonically rich drive — equally at home with single-coils or humbuckers — and originals command a premium that makes building this clone an easy call.
