Base pedal: ZVEX Channel 2
Compared to the ZVEX Channel 2, a high-gain preamp/distortion pedal from Zachary Vex designed to replicate the sound of a cranked small amp — compressed, saturated, and full of odd-order harmonics. ZVEX circuits are boutique-priced originals, and the Channel 2's particular brand of amp-like grind is well worth the DIY build effort.
