Description

Shin-Ei was a Japanese guitar effects pedal manufacturer originally active from the late 1950s/1960s, believed to have begun as a maker of pickups and microphones before transitioning into effects pedals around 1969. The company became Japan's preeminent effects pedal powerhouse, producing iconic units such as the Uni-Vibe, FY-6 Super Fuzz, and FY-2 Fuzz, and manufacturing circuits for dozens of brands worldwide including Univox, Shaftesbury, Kent, and Jax. The original vintage company ceased production sometime in the 1970s under unclear circumstances, though the Shin-Ei name has been revived via a modern boutique operation at shin-ei.com continuing to produce effects pedals inspired by the originals.
