Hovercraft

Hovercraft Amps is a custom amplifier and effects builder based in Portland, Oregon, founded by Nial McGaughey, who also started the audiophile guitar cable company Solid Cables. The shop operates on a 'reuse, recycle, rerock' philosophy, sourcing vintage and discarded amp chassis and parts to rebuild hand-wired tube amps, while also producing a small catalog of distortion and fuzz pedals such as the Laguna Sunride. The brand has cultivated a strong following in stoner, doom, and heavy psych circles, drawing sonic inspiration from vintage Matamp, Orange, Laney, and Portland's own Sunn Amplifiers.
