Custom Tones, LLC is a US-based boutique guitar effects company founded by Rob Hall, an electrical engineer who earned his degree in 1984 and spent 38 years designing aerospace electronics. The company, operating under the Ethos Guitar FX brand, is best known for the Ethos Overdrive released in 2007—a preamp-style pedal inspired by the rare Dumble Overdrive Special amplifier—and produces small-batch, made-to-order pedals and amps assembled by Hall himself. The product line has expanded to include multi-channel preamp pedals, tremolo effects, and related accessories.
